God is Opening One Door After Another....

Have you been wondering what is happening with the idea of providing Hispanic ministry in the Pecos Valley? Plans are on the move! Rev. Jorge Alvarado visited the area, inspiring us with his enthusiasm and faith that God will make this ministry happen. He is back in Juarez working as an interim pastor while awaiting immigration clearance. It was a setback to hear that his visa will not be issued immediately, as we had naively expected. Jorge's immigration interview is scheduled for December. This seems to be standard procedure and Jorge reminds us that it will all happen in God's time. Jorge asks for our prayers so God may prepare the way.

Meanwhile the Pecos Valley Hispanic Ministry Committee meets regularly to smooth the way for Jorge's arrival. It has been an exciting time as we become more & more convinced that God has his hand in this plan. Seemingly insurmountable obstacles have come crumbling down one after another! There was concern about how we could provide housing on our limited budget. The use of a Dexter home was donated! It is not just a home but a home with a very large living room perfect for holding small meetings. The cost of utilities will be covered by the Dexter congregation. We have it all–leather furniture, 2 bedroom sets, a dining room set, washer & dryer; a computer ...God is opening one door after another to prepare the way for Jorge and his family.

Getting a reliable car at a reasonable price seemed an insurmountable hurdle. Two days after the request went out in a newsletter a car was donated from a church member in Carlsbad! Not just a car but a 2001 Taurus in mint condition with only 53,000 miles! It even has four new tires. Gas has been donated by a member of the Dexter congregation. God is pulling out all the stops to make this ministry happen!

So, what is a little delay with immigration when you can see that God is not just opening the doors but he is also throwing wide the windows? Who would ever believe that serving on yet another committee could turn out to be such an exciting time? God is definitely working in the Pecos Valley; I can hardly wait to see what happens next!
