PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN OF SIRRA BLANCA
REPORT TO PRESBYTERY
April 29, 2006

We have been operating a year under our new Constitution which reduced a number of our required meetings, and so far it seems to be working quite well. The majority of our officers are available by computer and we all stay in touch much more than in the past.

We conducted all the planning for our only Gathering which was held on March 18 by computer and a few phone calls. I feel that this may encourage more of our women to want to participate more if the distance traveling is limited.

I am also happy to report that after setting up a more realistic budget and suggesting to all P.W.s to include a line item to accrue funds to help with the expense for our delegates for the Church-Wide Gathering, some of the local churches sent funds to our Treasurer for this. This also helped us to increase our pledge to the Synod of Presybterian Women. Our two delegates going are Connie Berckes and Ann Blakley.

Our Annual Gathering hosted by the churches in Las Cruces was a big success. We had four very informative speakers who brought us information from an International level, Synod level and a Mission Workshop. Susan McMichael , the Global Exchange Representative, gave her report on her trip to Brazil, Rosalie Goll, Synod Presbyterian Enabler presented a wonderful National Geographic report on “Everyday Creativity” and Judy Kemper and Ann Blakley gave their report on a Mission Workshop which they attended.

We had 38 attending with Las Cruces, Alamogodo, Roswell and Deming represented. The names of Mary Danforth for Moderator of the Synod and Shirley Nichols as Rep to Church-wide Ct were nominated for Synod and will be voted on at the next Synod meeting in July.

After polling the group I feel that the majority of the members were very pleased with our new agenda and we plan on to follow the same schedule next year.
