The Mission Division's responsiblities include (but aren't limited to): New Church Development, Racial Ethnic Ministries, Campus Ministry, Border Ministry, Social Justice Issues, Mission Interpretation, Environment, Hunger Action, Ecumenical Mission Work, Mission Interpretation. Part of the Presbytery's task in developing and supporting faithful congregations, is realized when those congregations commit to the field a church with a passion for justice and a love for God's world.
The Mission Division will help individual congregations and the Presbytery as a whole to participate in God's activity in the world, by "healing, reconciling and binding up wounds; Ministering to the needs of the poor, the sick, the lonely and the powerless; Engaging in the struggle to free people from sin, fear, oppression, hunger and injustice; Giving to the service of those who suffer; Establishing with Christ his just, peaceable and loving rule in the world." (G-3.0300c3)
The Mission Division will help shape the joing work of the Presbytery's congregations as they engage in ministries of love and justice to the world, particularly in our context of poverty and stress, a shared international border with Mexico, and a population growing younger and racially diverse.
