 ACTIVITIES

God is so good - we have much to celebrate! At First Presbyterian we celebrate :

. . . The living and loving presence of God in our lives and world.

. . . God's ability not only to convict, but forgive us of our sins.

. . . The victory on the cross of Jesus over death so that we might have life.

. . . The revelation of Christ in the Holy Bible, for it is more than mere words but truth and life.

. . . The Holy Spirit who brings us strength in weakness, comfort in despair, and the peace, joy and direction for an abundant life in Christ.

Come and celebrate with us that together we might be a growing, worshiping, family of faith. Please know that you are welcome and treasured just as Jesus received all his disciples.

 MISSION STATEMENT

Motivated by God's call on our life and responding to God's grace through faith and obedience - we go about the mission of the Church. As God is continually revealed to us, so we also learn more about ourselves. Created in God's own image, we have been made to be in relationship with both our creator and one another. We have been given dominion over all the earth and are accountable to God and our fellow human beings. The Holy Spirit enables us to live a life in pursuit of righteousness.
God's work in our lives and in this world is evidenced through the life generated at First Presbyterian. Our members open the doors unto all, regardless of their background, who would respond to the invitation of Christ. We seek to provide for the regular occasion of worship, scripture read and interpreted, and the celebration of the Sacraments. Discipleship, evangelism, education, and all forms of Christian nurture are consciously pursued and developed for persons of every age.
As individuals and as a Christian institution, we actively extend our witness into the community and world abroad. The local Ministerial Alliance is supported not only by donations but also participation in the ecumenical services and projects. Christmas food baskets are packed and delivered in person to over 50 families. The Ladies' Circle is quite active within the Church and town helping others through community services, gifts, opportunities for fellowship, luncheons, and occasions for celebration. The needs of our neighbors are not forgotten in our support of the Minority Outreach Program. A humanitarian aid fund is designed to help address deficiencies and emergencies.
The First Presbyterian Church of Dexter was the very first church in the community and seeks to remain as such in its outreach, involvement, and in witness to the Lord our God, Jesus the Christ. May God bless each person to courageously live out the Lord's grace.
